JÄÄKAUSITIE ASIKKALA
This project is a modern, responsive web application built as a digital guide for the “Ice Age Route” in Finland’s Asikkala region.
My role was to define the entire user experience, from the foundational UI design and layout to the creation of the project’s logo and visual identity. The core objective was to translate a complex geological and historical narrative into an engaging, accessible, and intuitive digital experience for visitors.
The design philosophy was centered on clarity and elegance. The application’s landing page, for instance, features a clean two-part layout: a custom-designed snowflake graphic paired with an inviting introductory text. This immediately sets a thematic tone and provides an aesthetic that is both visually striking and functional. The top navigation bar is streamlined and includes a clear language toggle between Finnish and English, ensuring the content is accessible to a broader audience.
Throughout the application, I designed interactive components to enhance engagement. The main content pages present key locations via a series of interactive cards. Tapping on a card opens a detailed, full-screen modal view, allowing users to deep-dive into the history of a specific site without losing their place. The entire interface is built to be fully responsive, utilizing modern front-end principles to ensure a seamless experience on any device, from desktop to mobile. This project demonstrates my ability to combine thoughtful UI/UX design with a strong visual identity to create a compelling and practical product.
